  • Publisher: Independently published (22 April 2019)

THE BITE IS WORSE THAN THE BARK!

The rural area where nineteen-year-old Aiken Pine grew up is a place that nobody seems to leave, but Aiken is one that got away—at least for a little while. Before Aiken became a high school dropout, he had big plans for the future. But one horrible mistake changed everything. When his younger sister stabs the head cheerleader, Aiken is forced to go home. Everybody says it was bullying that led to the fight, but Aiken is convinced there’s more to the story. As he begins to unravel the mystery, Aiken is faced with other things from the past—an intricate web of secrets and lies among high school friends. And, even with all of that, Aiken has another problem… there’s a sinister dog that’s been following him around. A dog that’s out for blood!

KR: Coffee?

KR: Could you tell me a little about yourself please?

Yes. I am the author of four YA thriller/horror books. I live in South Carolina with my wife and our dog.

KR: What do you like to do when not writing?

My favorite hobbies include reading, running, and watching horror movies.

KR: What is your favourite childhood book?

One that immediately comes to mind is a kid’s book called The Pumpkin Smasher.

KR: What is your favourite album, and does music play any role in your writing?

I wouldn’t even know how to begin to pick a favorite album. I never listen to music when I’m writing, but sometimes I’ll hear songs while I’m in my truck that help me work out the details of a scene or chapter.

KR: Do you have a favourite horror movie/director?

I have lots of favorite horror movies, including The Blair Witch Project, the original Pet Sematary, and RZ’s Halloween II.

KR: What are you reading now?

I just finished reading R.L. Stine’s The Babysitter series.

KR: What was the last great book you read?

Besides The Babysitter series, Burn Town by Jennifer McMahon.

KR: E-Book, Paperback or Hardback?

All three. And audio.

KR: Who were the authors that inspired you to write?

R.L. Stine and other Point Horror authors inspired me to start writing complete horror stories when I was very young.

KR: Do you work to an outline or plot or do you prefer to just see where an idea takes you?

A little bit of both. I start with a loose outline that has some of the major plot points and then I fill in and expand from there.

KR: What kind of research do you do, and how long do you spend researching before beginning a book?

Most of my research I do via the internet. It’s usually after I’ve kind of winged the first draft. Rarely do I do much research prior to starting a book.

KR: Describe your usual writing day?

I get up and write early in the morning.

KR: Do you read your book reviews?

Of course.

KR: Can you tell me about your latest release please?

My newest book, Tethered, is a teen thriller about pack mentality. It’s also about the desperation some people have to escape their current situation.

KR: What are you working on now?

I’m working on the first book of a new series called Killer Tech.

KR: Thank you Bryce.
