{Feature} Kendall Reviews Presents ‘Steve Stred’s Books From The Crypt 11’

Steve Stred’s Books From The Crypt 11

Welcome, welcome, welcome!

Edition number eleven is here! To share three books you MUST read, but much to my surprise, these books have yet to pick up fifty Goodreads reviews! Come on people!

But first. A book haiku!

Shameful is the one

Who doesn’t read more widely

Chance and discover!

Plantation Pan – Eddie Generous.

Originally Published January 2020.

I’m a big fan of Eddie Generous and his writing. In ‘Plantation Pan’ we get a sci-fi sequel to Machen’s ‘The Great God Pan’ and boy is it a page-turner. With Earth uninhabitable, man has colonized space. But now a signal has been activated on Earth and a group is sent to see what it is. Stunning work.

Severin – Lydian Faust.

Originally Published January 2020.

Will we see another Faust release? Hard to say. I would hope so. But if not, ‘Severin’ is a fantastic collection of dark, introspective poetry and a bonus short story tacked on at the end. Lydian doesn’t go easy on the reader here, and we’re all the better for it.

KR: It appears that Severin is out of print, but I’d recommend checking the second-hand market.

Consequences – John Quick.

Originally Published 2016, Republished January 2020.

I’m actually not 100% sure on the status of ‘Consequences’ as it had been republished through Poltergeist Press. But Quick is a writer you need to read and ‘Consequences’ is a stunning novel that displays just that. Following a group high school grads as they throw a party in a supposed haunted cabin on the outskirts of town, Quick lays no stone unturned to make the reader shake and quake. A great novel.

Ok, my friends! Number eleven done and dusted! Until we meet again!
