Cabin Terror: Sarah Jane Huntington

Reviewed By Simon Paul Wilson

Sarah Jane Huntington is one of the good folk of the horror community on Twitter.

She can also write.

Yep , she sure has horror writing skills, and you need to start reading her books.

Trust me on this, you’re in for a real treat.

I was lucky enough to be sent a proof copy of Sarah’s debut novel, Cabin Terror. I’d read her Paint It Black collection, and thought it was brilliant, so I was very excited to start on her first full-length story.

I was not disappointed.

Cabin Terror is a novel that needs to be on the shelves of all horror readers. Yep, it’s really bloody good, and really bloody.

Billed as a ‘Cosmic Slasher’, Cabin Terror is a joyous fusion of Lovecraftian horrors, dark rituals, urban legends, and found footage. Add to this some characters you’ll either love to bits or loathe with all your heart, and you’ve got one hell of a read.

Oh yes, don’t forget the scares, gore, and twists!

The story zips along at a fast pace, and keeps the reader turning pages. Cabin Terror does a great job of taking the ‘cabin in creepy forest’ troupe, and turning it into something fresh and, well, terrifying!

Put it this way, this book gives yet another reason to stay at home and give camping a miss.

I thoroughly recommend Cabin Terror. It’s a really good read and deserves to be found by as many horror fans as possible. As always, no spoilers from me. Just go dive in and enjoy!

Seriously, I think this book is an excellent debut, and can’t wait to see what Sarah Jane Huntington comes up with next. I’ve got a good feeling a lot of you folk will come to agree with me on this.

Like I said earlier, I was very lucky and got my paperback copy for free. However, I also went and purchased this book for my Kindle, as any proceeds go to the charity, Age U.K.

Cabin Terror: A great horror story for a good cause.

What are you waiting for?

Cabin Terror

If you go down to the woods today…

One cult, one ritual, one forced open dimensional door.

A creature from elsewhere…

One fierce elderly woman. Three girls. One survivor?

Secrets, lies, and a found footage movie.

Really, what could go wrong?

No one lasts the night.
