Hi, my name is Gavin and I run Kendall Reviews.
I have always been a lover of music, my earliest memories are of my maternal Grandmother playing her favourite tunes when I visited with my Mother. She would dance and sing-a-long, encouraging me to join in. She would have hundreds of albums throughout her house, in cupboards, wardrobes, on the floor, leaning against walls. Everywhere was music. Although not so chaotic, much to my wife’s relief (I store most of my music in easy access boxes or on shelves), my house is much the same. Music really is everything to me, it has helped me through tough times, it has made me happy and sad, some of the greatest moments in my life have had amazing soundtracks supplied by some of the greatest musicians.
It would be fruitless trying to list my favourite artists, but if I had to share a few with you then the first 5 off the top of my head, in no particular order would be…
- David Bowie
- Pet Shop Boys
- The The
When I’m not listening to music, the next best thing for me would be losing myself in a book. I am happy to explore most genres, but what really gets me excited is the world of Horror and the Supernatural. There is something about the unexplained, the slight movement out of the corner of your eye, the fear of what could be hidden in the shadows.
Again, a list of favourite authors would be difficult. A swift first five off the top of my head would give you..
- Adam Nevill
- Joe Hill
- Nick Cutter
- Stephen King
- Clive Barker
This blog will be a platform to meld these loves, to discuss both music and literature, to discover new worlds and discuss old ones.
